The Nightmare Before Christmas Party

On Friday the 13th, The Nightmare Before Christmas brought a thrilling twist to the holiday season at the Freehand Hotel's Broken Shaker in Chicago. Curated by Hasani Henderson, Kickn Kenny, NewWavChi, DJ Creed, TimesUP Productions, and Tiffany Shanta, this one-of-a-kind event was designed to celebrate community while shedding light on the challenges of seasonal and holiday depression.

The holidays can be a difficult time for many, often triggering feelings of loneliness, stress, and anxiety. The Nightmare Before Christmas aimed to address these realities, creating an inclusive space where attendees could come as they are—free from judgment and full of support. This event wasn’t just a celebration; it was a platform to spark meaningful conversations about mental health, particularly within Black and multiracial communities.

The evening came alive with electrifying sounds provided by Kickn Kenny, DJ Creed, and MixedByUnstable, delivering a soundtrack that kept the crowd moving and spirits high. Guests were treated to a vibrant atmosphere with creative décor that blended holiday whimsy with edgy, dark elements, capturing the theme perfectly.

What made this night truly special was its deeper purpose. While many holiday events focus solely on festive cheer, The Nightmare Before Christmas brought attention to mental health struggles that often go unspoken. By shining a light on issues like seasonal affective disorder and holiday-induced stress, the curators created a space where attendees could feel seen, supported, and uplifted.

With a diverse and multiracial audience, the event emphasized the importance of inclusivity and connection. It provided a platform for meaningful brand exposure while fostering a community of individuals who value mental health awareness. Through the combination of music, community, and advocacy, attendees walked away with not just memories of a fantastic night, but also a renewed sense of hope and belonging.

The Nightmare Before Christmas wasn’t just an event; it was a movement. It proved that even during the darkest seasons, light can be found through community, music, and meaningful conversations. For anyone who attended, it was a powerful reminder that they are never alone, no matter the season.
